Musique concrète naturally begins with acoustic explorations. For this piece, I listened to the studios of the former Rheinische wallpaper factory Bonn-Beuel. My artist friend, Wolf Rabe, had placed some objects from his installations there.

The piece ploughs through underlying meters. But no sooner do rhythms appear than they disappear. Above all, however, the piece revolves around the sound of a marble sculpture. Shaking on a rusty pole, it sends its plaintive cry into the studios. Delicate crackling structures come to the rescue and save us from the depths of the rooms.
